Goldshell HS Box 235 GH/s Silent Desktop Dual Algorithm ASIC Miner for Handshake and Siacoin

The Goldshell HS Box produces 235 GH/s of Handshake hashrate at 230W in HNS mode, or 470 GH/s of Siacoin hashrate at 130W in SC (Blake2B-Sia) mode. ±5 percent hashrate and power tolerance on both modes. Two cooling fans at 35 dB. 175 x 150 x 84 mm at 2 kg with built in PSU. Universal 100 to 240V AC input. Ethernet connectivity with Goldshell mobile app compatibility. Released May 2021 as the first generation of Goldshell's silent HS Box form factor. Historical significance in the HS lineup. The HS Box was the first Goldshell product to package Handshake and Siacoin mining into a silent desktop device. Before its release, HNS and SC mining required industrial ASIC hardware or GPU rigs, both operating at noise levels and power draws incompatible with home environments. The HS Box proved commercial demand for whisper quiet niche algorithm mining on a standard wall outlet. Goldshell subsequently built an entire product line on this concept: HS Box II (460 GH/s HNS, the direct successor doubling hashrate in the same form factor), HS Lite (1,360 GH/s HNS / 2,900 GH/s SC at 50 dB mid tier), HS3 SE (930 GH/s HNS / 1,860 GH/s SC at 55 dB Silent Edition), and HS5 (2,700 GH/s HNS / 5.4 TH/s SC at 75 dB industrial flagship). SC mode at 130W deserves specific attention. Siacoin mode on the HS Box draws approximately 1.2 amps at 110V. Monthly electricity at $0.08 per kWh: approximately $7.50. Monthly at $0.07 per kWh: approximately $6.55. This is among the lowest continuous operating costs of any ASIC mining device currently in distribution. For operators who want to participate in Siacoin's decentralized storage network proof of work at the absolute minimum possible running cost, the HS Box SC mode delivers 470 GH/s of Blake2B-Sia hashrate for less monthly electricity than most smartphone charging costs. First generation positioning. The HS Box II at 460 GH/s HNS delivers approximately double the Handshake hashrate in the same 35 dB form factor, same dimensions, and same universal voltage. For buyers with access to both products, the HS Box II is the straightforward upgrade. The original HS Box retains value at meaningful price discounts versus the HS Box II, for operators who already own HS Box units and want to add more at low capital cost, or as the absolute lowest capital entry point into Handshake or Siacoin mining hardware. Goldshell HS family lineup for context. HS Box at 235 GH/s HNS / 470 GH/s SC and 35 dB (this product, original generation). HS Box II at 460 GH/s HNS and 35 dB (direct successor, double hashrate). HS Lite at 1,360 GH/s HNS / 2,900 GH/s SC and 50 dB (mid tier). HS3 SE at 930 GH/s HNS / 1,860 GH/s SC and 55 dB (Silent Edition). HS3 at 2 TH/s HNS and 75 dB (industrial). HS5 at 2,700 GH/s HNS / 5.4 TH/s SC and 75 dB (industrial flagship). Current economics are negative. MillionMiner calculator at $0.08 per kWh: -$0.34 daily in HNS mode. SC mode reduces the loss through lower power draw: approximately $0.25 daily electricity versus approximately $0.44 in HNS mode. Neither mode produces positive margins at standard residential rates at April 2026 network conditions. Mining on the HS Box is a speculative accumulation strategy at very small daily cost. The daily electricity loss in SC mode ($0.25) is roughly the cost of a single vending machine purchase, making it one of the cheapest mining positions to hold in the entire ASIC hardware market. Physical and deployment specifications. 175 x 150 x 84 mm at 2 kg. Approximately the size and weight of a hardcover book. Built in PSU eliminates external power supply sourcing. Two fans at 35 dB, inaudible from the next room. Universal 100 to 240V. Ethernet connectivity. 0 to 35 degrees Celsius operating range per Goldshell specification. Approximately 785 BTU per hour heat output in HNS mode, approximately 443 BTU per hour in SC mode. Negligible thermal impact on any residential space. Ships with built in PSU, power cables, quick start guide, Goldshell manufacturer warranty, and free DDP worldwide delivery from MillionMiner.

Goldshell HS Box 235 GH/s: The Original Silent Desktop Miner for Handshake

The Goldshell HS Box was the first generation silent desktop miner in
Goldshell's Handshake series. Two firmware selectable modes: HNS at 235 GH/s and 230W, or
SC (Blake2B-Sia) at 470 GH/s and 130W. Released May 2021. Superseded by the HS Box II at
460 GH/s HNS (approximately double the hashrate in the same form factor).
The HS Box established the product category that Goldshell later expanded into the HS Box II,
HS Lite, HS3 SE, and HS5. Before the HS Box, Handshake and Siacoin mining required
industrial hardware or GPU rigs. Goldshell proved that a 2 kg device running at 35 dB on a
standard wall outlet could participate in proof of work on these networks. Every subsequent HS
series product built on this original concept.
SC mode at 130W is a standout specification. At 110V that is approximately 1.2 amps, less than
a standard desk lamp. Monthly electricity in SC mode at $0.08 per kWh: approximately $7.50. It
costs less per month to run the HS Box in SC mode than to stream a single premium video
service. For operators who want the absolute lowest running cost mining device for either
Handshake or Siacoin, the original HS Box in SC mode is difficult to undercut.
First generation status is a factor. The HS Box II at 460 GH/s HNS delivers approximately
double the hashrate in the same 35 dB form factor. Buyers should check HS Box II availability
before defaulting to the original HS Box. If the HS Box is available at a meaningful price
discount versus the HS Box II, the lower hashrate may be acceptable for operators prioritizing
minimum capital outlay. If the HS Box II is similarly priced, the HS Box II is the straightforward
upgrade.
175 x 150 x 84 mm at 2 kg. 35 dB. Two fans. Universal 100 to 240V with built in PSU.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Two firmware selectable modes. HNS mode: 235 GH/s Handshake at 230W and approximately 0.98 J/GH. SC mode: 470 GH/s Siacoin (Blake2B-Sia) at 130W and approximately 0.28 J/GH. ±5 percent tolerance on both. Switch through the Goldshell web interface. The HS Box cannot mine both algorithms simultaneously; choose the mode producing better economics at current conditions.

Yes. SC mode delivers 470 GH/s Siacoin (Blake2B-Sia) at just 130W. This is one of the lowest power draws of any ASIC mining device. Monthly electricity at $0.08 per kWh: approximately $7.50. SC mode draws approximately 1.2 amps at 110V, less than a desk lamp. For operators wanting to participate in Siacoin's decentralized storage network proof of work at minimum running cost, the HS Box SC mode is hard to beat on electricity economics.

HS Box II at 460 GH/s HNS and 35 dB. HS Box at 235 GH/s HNS and 35 dB. The HS Box II delivers approximately double the Handshake hashrate in the same form factor, same noise, same voltage. The HS Box II is the straightforward upgrade if available at similar pricing. The original HS Box retains value at meaningful price discounts versus the HS Box II, or for operators wanting the absolute lowest capital entry point into Handshake or Siacoin mining.

35 dB from two cooling fans. Inaudible from the next room with a closed door. Operates in bedrooms, home offices, shared living spaces, and apartments without anyone registering its presence. The 35 dB specification is consistent across the entire Goldshell Box series (HS Box, HS Box II, KA Box, CK Box, KD Box, AL Box) and represents truly silent desktop operation.

Universal 100 to 240V AC with built in PSU. HNS mode at 230W draws approximately 2.1 amps at 110V. SC mode at 130W draws approximately 1.2 amps at 110V. Any standard residential outlet worldwide handles either mode without any circuit considerations. No external PSU to source. Plug in and mine.

At standard residential electricity rates, no. MillionMiner calculator at $0.08 per kWh: -$0.34 daily in HNS mode. SC mode reduces loss through lower power draw but revenue is also lower. Neither mode reaches positive margin at April 2026 HNS and SC prices. Mining on the HS Box is a speculative accumulation play at very small daily cost. SC mode electricity loss of approximately $0.25 daily is among the cheapest mining positions to maintain in the entire ASIC hardware market.

Handshake is a decentralized blockchain managing DNS root zone records. Instead of ICANN controlling domain name resolution globally, Handshake distributes top level domain ownership through blockchain auctions. HNS is the native token for name registration, renewal, and transfer. Exchange availability has narrowed since 2023. Research token liquidity and development community activity before committing mining capital to dedicated Handshake hardware.

Siacoin powers the Sia decentralized cloud storage network. Users rent unused hard drive space to storage clients through automated contracts, with SC as the payment token. Sia competes with AWS S3 and Filecoin on distributed storage pricing. Siacoin maintains broader exchange support than HNS with an active development community building the Sia V2 storage protocol upgrade. SC typically offers more liquid exit paths for mined tokens than HNS.

175 x 150 x 84 mm at 2 kg. Approximately the size and weight of a hardcover book. Built in PSU means no external power supply box to accommodate. Sits on any desk, shelf, windowsill, or countertop alongside consumer electronics without visual disruption. The smallest and lightest miner in Goldshell's HS series lineup.

Goldshell and most distributor documentation specifies 0 to 35 degrees Celsius. eBay listings confirm 0 to 35 degrees Celsius operating range. MM lists 5 to 45 degrees Celsius which differs from manufacturer spec. The 35 degree ceiling means warm climate deployments need air conditioned space during hot months. The 0 degree floor supports cold climate deployment without facility heating.

This is the original first generation HS Box released May 2021 at 235 GH/s HNS. The HS Box II (460 GH/s HNS) is a separate product with approximately double the hashrate in the same form factor. MillionMiner lists them as distinct products. If you see "HS Box II" that is the newer, higher hashrate model. If you see "HS Box" without the "II" suffix, that is this product.

Three step setup. Plug the HS Box into any 100 to 240V outlet using the included power cable (built in PSU, no external power supply). Connect Ethernet cable to router or switch. Find miner IP through Goldshell finder tool or router DHCP, open web interface, select mining mode (HNS or SC), configure pool URL and wallet address. Goldshell mobile app also supports configuration for iOS and Android. Total setup approximately 10 minutes.

HNS mode: 6block, AntPool, DxPool, ViaBTC, Poolflare, and other Handshake pools. SC mode: F2Pool, SiaMining, Luxor, and other Blake2B-Sia pools. Pool availability shifts; verify pool operational status before deployment. Pool fees typically 1 to 4 percent. At 235 GH/s HNS or 470 GH/s SC against current network hashrates, pool mining is the only practical approach for any revenue consistency.

MM body copy references WiFi and Goldshell app compatibility. The original HS Box shipped with Ethernet as the primary connection, with WiFi availability depending on firmware version and hardware revision. Goldshell Box series products have progressively added WiFi support across firmware updates. Verify WiFi capability with MillionMiner for the specific unit. For most stable mining performance, wired Ethernet is preferred.

Yes. Each unit operates independently with its own power and Ethernet. In HNS mode at 230W each, a standard 15 amp 110V circuit (1,800W capacity) supports seven units (1,610W total). In SC mode at 130W each, the same circuit supports thirteen units (1,690W total). Configure all units to the same pool and wallet. Seven HNS mode units produce approximately 1,645 GH/s aggregate, approaching the HS Lite's 1,360 GH/s in a multi unit deployment at similar collective noise (each at 35 dB).

Minimal. Quarterly dust wipe of the compact chassis and two fan grilles. Monitor hashrate through Goldshell web interface or mobile app. No coolant, no filters, no internal servicing. Released May 2021, units in the field have over four years of established reliability data. Solid state hardware with only two small fans as moving parts.

Marginally. HNS mode at 230W produces approximately 785 BTU per hour. SC mode at 130W produces approximately 443 BTU per hour. Neither is enough to meaningfully heat even a small room. The HS Box produces less heat than most desktop computers. The low thermal output is an advantage for warm climate deployment (no cooling concern) but not useful as a practical heating supplement unlike higher wattage miners.

MillionMiner accepts HS Box units technically, but hosting economics at 230W generating approximately $0.10 daily revenue make the arrangement impractical. Hosting fees and electricity would exceed mining revenue at any realistic rate. The HS Box is designed for self hosted home deployment where the operator absorbs electricity cost as part of a speculative token accumulation strategy, not for facility hosted revenue generation.

Only in specific scenarios. This is first generation hardware from May 2021, now superseded by the HS Box II at double the hashrate. At standard electricity rates, mining revenue does not cover electricity on either mode. Buy the HS Box if: it is available at meaningful discount versus the HS Box II and you want the absolute lowest capital entry into HNS or SC mining, you want to run SC mode at 130W as possibly the cheapest ASIC mining position to maintain ($7.50 monthly electricity), you already own HS Box units and want to expand at minimal cost, or you value the product as the original device that proved silent home mining for niche algorithms was commercially viable. Check HS Box II availability before defaulting to the original.

Direct upgrade: Goldshell HS Box II (460 GH/s HNS, 35 dB, double the hashrate in the same form factor). Within Goldshell HS family for scaling up: HS Lite (1,360 GH/s HNS / 2,900 GH/s SC, 50 dB mid tier), HS3 SE (930 GH/s HNS / 1,860 GH/s SC, 55 dB Silent Edition), HS5 (2,700 GH/s industrial). For cross algorithm niche mining diversification: Goldshell KA Box (1.18 TH/s Kaspa, 35 dB), Goldshell KD Box II (5 TH/s Kadena), Goldshell CK Box II (2.1 TH/s Nervos), Goldshell AL Box II Pro (950 GH/s Alephium). For Bitcoin mining at home tier: Bitaxe Gamma 601 (1.2 TH/s SHA-256). For Scrypt mining at quiet home tier: Fluminer L1 Pro (6 GH/s, 45 dB).
