The Bitmain Antminer S21+ Hyd solves a specific infrastructure problem: hydro Bitcoin mining on standard single phase power. At 319 TH/s and 4,785W on 100 to 240V, it runs on the same electrical service available in virtually any building worldwide.

This matters because three phase power is expensive to install. Depending on your utility and facility, upgrading from single phase to three phase costs $10,000 to $50,000+. The newer S23 Hyd at 580 TH/s and 9.5 J/TH is dramatically more powerful and efficient, but it requires 380 to 415V three phase. For facilities that have invested in water cooling infrastructure (pumps, pipes, heat exchangers) but only have single phase electrical, the S21+ Hyd may be the only viable Bitmain hydro option.

The S21 XP+ Hydro (358 and 395 TH/s) is similar but from a slightly different generation. The S19 XP+ Hyd 3U (586 TH/s at 10,900W) also runs on universal voltage but in a much larger, heavier 3U chassis at 50 kg. The S21+ Hyd at 13.5 kg in a compact chassis is the most manageable universal voltage hydro unit in Bitmain's current and recent lineup.
