Canaan Avalon Made A1566 185TH Air Cooled SHA-256 Bitcoin Miner

The Canaan Avalon A1566 produces 185 TH/s at 3,420W, positioned between the older A1466 (150 TH/s) and the current A16 series (282 to 300 TH/s at 12.8 to 13.8 J/TH). At approximately 18.5 J/TH, the A1566 is two efficiency generations behind the current A16XP at 12.8 J/TH.

Canaan's SHA 256 progression: A1346 (110 TH/s), A1366 (130 TH/s), A1446 (135 TH/s), A1466 (150 TH/s), A1566 (185 TH/s), A15 Pro (220 TH/s), A16 (282 TH/s), A16XP (300 TH/s). The A1566 sits at the midpoint of Canaan's recent history. Two models below current generation.

220V input (not universal). Cannot run on 110V North American without a transformer. This narrows deployment to facilities with 220V+ circuits. The current A16 series also requires 220 to 277V, so this is consistent across Canaan's lineup.

As a previous generation product, the A1566's value is entirely in its discount relative to the A16 series. At cheap electricity, deploying more A1566 units at lower per unit cost can produce higher total fleet hashrate than fewer A16 units. The standard fleet math trade off between acquisition cost and operating efficiency.
