MicroBT Whatsminer M36S Plus 164TH Hydro Cooled SHA-256 Bitcoin Miner

Three phase hydro from the M30 generation. The M36S+ at 164 TH/s and 5,576W is multiple generations behind the M66 and M73 series. At roughly 34.0 J/TH, this model burns about three times more electricity per terahash than current gen hardware.

380 to 480V three phase. Data center infrastructure only. Water cooled at 50 dB. The M36S+ exists in distributor inventory because hydro mining hardware has longer deployment lifecycles than air cooled units. Water cooled installations are expensive to build, and operators prefer to fill existing racks with available hardware rather than upgrade infrastructure for every generation.

Daily electricity at $0.07 per kWh: $9.37. Monthly: $281. That electricity buys only 164 TH/s while the M66S++ produces 356 TH/s at similar operating cost on single phase. The M36S+ makes sense only when the unit is essentially free and your hydro infrastructure is already built for 380V+ three phase MicroBT equipment.
