MicroBT Whatsminer M78S 472 TH/s Immersion Cooled SHA 256 Bitcoin Miner

The MicroBT Whatsminer M78S produces 472 TH/s at 7,000W in an immersion chassis. It is the top bin model in the 7 kW immersion tier of MicroBT's M70 generation, sitting between the high power 14 kW tier (M79 series) and the lighter 5.2 kW tier (M76 series).

The 7 kW per unit power draw has specific infrastructure advantages. A 100 kW electrical panel supports approximately 14 M78S units (6,608 TH/s total) versus only 7 units from the 14 kW M79 series (6,090 to 6,510 TH/s total). The M78S produces more total hashrate per kilowatt of available electrical capacity while requiring smaller individual circuit breakers per unit.

For facilities scaling their immersion fleet gradually, the 7 kW tier is more practical than 14 kW. Smaller heat load per unit means less aggressive cooling per tank slot. Smaller power draw per unit simplifies electrical provisioning. The trade off is lower hashrate per unit, requiring more total units to match the same aggregate output.

The M78S shares immersion tank compatibility with the M78 (440 TH/s at 7 kW) and the M76 series (5.2 kW) in properly sized tanks. All use dielectric fluid cooling on 380 to 480V three phase.

267 x 147 x 401mm at 22 kg. Ethernet connectivity. operating temperature 5 to 45C, humidity 5 to 95 percent non condensing. Efficiency at approximately 14.8 J/TH.

The M78S is the practical starting point for operations building their first immersion facility. Lower power per unit means less aggressive cooling requirements per tank slot, smaller initial fluid volume, and simpler heat rejection sizing. As the facility matures and cooling capacity grows, the same infrastructure can accommodate 14 kW M79 series units in future expansion phases.

Whatsminer M78S 472 TH/s in MicroBT's 7kW Immersion Bitcoin Mining Class

Top bin in MicroBT's 7 kW immersion tier. 472 TH/s at 7,000W. Half the power of the 14 kW M79 series, fitting twice as many units per electrical panel.

Facility math: 100 kW supports roughly 14 M78S units producing 6,608 TH/s total. The same 100 kW supports only 7 M79S units producing 6,510 TH/s. Similar total hashrate, but the M78S fleet uses smaller breakers per unit and has lower thermal load per tank slot, simplifying both electrical and cooling infrastructure.

267 x 147 x 401mm at 22 kg. 380 to 480V three phase. Dielectric fluid immersion. Approximately 14.8 J/TH. Ethernet. 5 to 45 degrees Celsius. Shares tank compatibility with M78 and M76 series models.

The M78S is a practical starting point for first time immersion facilities. Lower per unit thermal load means smaller initial fluid volume, simpler heat rejection sizing, and less aggressive cooling demands. Infrastructure built for 7 kW units can later accommodate 14 kW M79 series hardware as the operation scales.
