MicroBT Whatsminer M79S 1.35 PH/s Hydro Cooled Bitcoin Miner: Full Specifications, M70 Series Comparison, and Deployment Guide

The MicroBT Whatsminer M79S produces 1,350 TH/s of SHA-256 hashrate at 20,000W wall draw through a hydro cooled chassis, delivering 14.815 J/TH efficiency in the rated performance mode. It is the flagship of MicroBT's M70 generation, launched at the Bitcoin MENA 2025 conference in Abu Dhabi by MicroBT founder Yang Zuoxing, and it is currently one of only two Bitcoin miners in the world capable of true petahash level single unit output. The other is Bitmain's Antminer S23 Hydro 3U at 1,160 TH/s and 11,000W.
Hydro cooling differentiates the M79S from air cooled alternatives. A pressurized liquid loop circulates coolant directly through heat exchangers mounted against the mining chips, removing the 20 kW thermal load with no high speed fans. The result is 50 dB near silent operation at a power density that air cooled hardware cannot match. Ambient airflow, dust filtration, and fan bearing wear all stop being operational concerns. The tradeoff is infrastructure: the M79S requires an engineered hydro cooling loop with pumps, cooling distribution units, heat exchangers, and leak safe fittings sized for the 20 kW continuous thermal output.
MicroBT exposes two operating modes on the M79S. Rated mode produces the full 1,350 TH/s at 20,000W and 14.815 J/TH, targeting maximum hashrate for operators with cheap industrial electricity. A proprietary Low Power Mode runs at approximately 14,000W and 13.5 J/TH, trading peak output for meaningfully better efficiency. The Low Power setting matters for facilities managing peak rate periods, summer thermal loads, or regions where electricity costs make full draw marginal. Switching between modes happens through the Whatsminer management interface without downtime or firmware changes.
The M79S sits at the top of a deep M70 product family. Air cooled tiers include the M70 and M70S for small and mid size operations that want efficiency improvements without committing to liquid cooling infrastructure. The hydro cooled tier includes the M73S, M76S, and M79S, with the M73S+ reaching a leading 12.5 J/TH efficiency at up to 600 TH/s. MicroBT also produces immersion cooled variants in the same generation for facilities running dielectric fluid tanks. Across the entire M70 family, efficiency ranges from 14.5 J/TH down to 12.5 J/TH, with the M79S trading some per terahash efficiency for maximum absolute hashrate per unit.
Power infrastructure is the hard constraint. The M79S requires 380 to 480V three phase commercial power, drawing approximately 48 amps at 415V or 42 amps at 480V sustained. Standard residential or small facility electrical systems cannot handle the 20 kW continuous load. Hydro cooling loop sizing must match the thermal output: most operators integrate the M79S into existing CDU infrastructure alongside Bitmain S23 Hydro units or other high density hardware. The 585 x 368 x 133 mm compact chassis and 37 kg weight support high density rack deployment in professional data center environments.
Bitcoin mining economics at the M79S power class depend heavily on electricity rate. At $0.07 per kWh the unit draws approximately $33.60 per day in electricity against roughly $44 to $45 in current Bitcoin revenue at 1.35 PH/s, netting around $10 to $11 per day in profit at current difficulty. At $0.04 per kWh industrial rates, daily electricity drops to approximately $19.20 and daily profit roughly doubles. The narrow margin at residential power explains why the M79S is built exclusively for industrial operators with negotiated power rates, not home or small facility deployment.
MillionMiner ships the M79S brand new with manufacturer warranty and free DDP delivery worldwide, handling all customs clearance, import duties, and taxes at no additional charge. Hosting at MillionMiner managed facilities with competitive electricity rates is also available for operators who want turnkey deployment without building their own hydro cooling infrastructure.

Whatsminer M79S: Petahash Class Hydro Mining From MicroBT's M70 Series Flagship

MicroBT unveiled the Whatsminer M79S at Bitcoin MENA 2025 in Abu Dhabi as the top tier of their M70 generation. At 1,350 TH/s and 20,000W wall draw, a single M79S produces petahash level hashrate from a single hydro cooled chassis, a milestone only two Bitcoin miners in the world have reached. The other is Bitmain's Antminer S23 Hydro 3U at 1,160 TH/s.

Efficiency lands at 14.815 J/TH in the rated performance mode. MicroBT also exposes a proprietary Low Power Mode at approximately 14,000W and 13.5 J/TH for operators managing expensive electricity periods or thermal constraints. Both modes configure through the standard Whatsminer management interface without firmware changes.

The M79S sits at the top of a broad M70 lineup spanning air cooled (M70, M70S), hydro cooled (M73S, M76S, M79S), and immersion cooled tiers. Efficiency across the series ranges from 14.5 J/TH down to 12.5 J/TH on the M73S+. Facilities running MicroBT hardware can deploy across all cooling types using the same management interface and firmware ecosystem. Not residential hardware. Designed for professional mining operations with three phase power infrastructure and hydro cooling loops already in place.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

The M79S delivers 1,350 TH/s of SHA-256 hashrate at its rated operating mode. That is 1.35 PH/s from a single hydro cooled unit, placing it at petahash class output alongside Bitmain's Antminer S23 Hydro 3U (1,160 TH/s) as one of only two Bitcoin miners in the world currently reaching this tier. It is the flagship of MicroBT's M70 generation and replaces multiple older generation units (M50, M60 series) with a single high density chassis.

Rated mode draws 20,000W from the wall and delivers 14.815 J/TH efficiency. MicroBT also built a proprietary Low Power Mode into the M79S that runs at approximately 14,000W and improves efficiency to roughly 13.5 J/TH, sacrificing some peak hashrate for lower electricity cost per terahash mined. The mode switch is software controlled through the Whatsminer management interface, allowing operators to tune performance based on current electricity rates, thermal conditions, or Bitcoin profitability margins.

Any SHA-256 algorithm cryptocurrency. Bitcoin (BTC) is the primary target because it has the largest market capitalization and deepest pool infrastructure. Bitcoin Cash (BCH), Bitcoin SV (BSV), and Fractal Bitcoin all use SHA-256 and accept hashrate from the M79S through standard Stratum protocol. For pure Bitcoin mining, connect to Foundry USA, F2Pool, AntPool, ViaBTC, or any other major SHA-256 pool.

MicroBT unveiled the M70 series at Bitcoin MENA 2025 in Abu Dhabi in December 2025. Founder and CEO Yang Zuoxing presented the lineup at the conference, framing the launch around the slogan "Green Driven, Ecosystem Redefined" and arguing that efficiency has become more important than Bitcoin price speculation for long term mining profitability. The M79S was the headline product because it reaches petahash level output from a single unit, a milestone only Bitmain had previously matched.

The M79S is hydro cooled, meaning it requires a liquid cooling loop with pumps, cooling distribution units (CDUs), heat exchangers, and leak safe plumbing sized for the 20 kW continuous thermal output per unit. This is not a plug and play device. Facilities that already run Bitmain S23 Hydro, S21 Hydro, or earlier MicroBT hydro generations can typically integrate the M79S into existing infrastructure with appropriate flow and temperature management. New operators entering hydro mining need to budget for the full cooling infrastructure separately from hardware acquisition cost. MillionMiner can advise on compatible setups or offer hosting at facilities with existing hydro infrastructure.

These are the only two petahash class Bitcoin miners currently available. The M79S delivers 1,350 TH/s at 20,000W and 14.815 J/TH. The Antminer S23 Hydro 3U delivers 1,160 TH/s at 11,000W and 9.5 J/TH. Bitmain produces less absolute hashrate per unit but significantly better efficiency, earning roughly $26.15 per day in Bitcoin at current prices. The M79S produces more hashrate per unit and higher gross daily Bitcoin revenue (around $30.70) but consumes substantially more electricity. At residential power rates Bitmain wins on daily profit after electricity. At cheap industrial power the gap narrows. Operators often deploy both to balance absolute hashrate and efficiency across their fleet.

Every M79S from MillionMiner ships brand new and factory sealed with manufacturer warranty included. MicroBT provides 12 month standard warranty on Whatsminer hardware covering manufacturing defects under normal operation. Warranty claims flow through MillionMiner's support channel for faster resolution than direct manufacturer routing. Warranty does not cover damage from improper electrical infrastructure, inadequate cooling, or operator misuse, so ensure your facility meets the three phase power and hydro cooling requirements before deployment.

Yes. MillionMiner ships DDP (Delivered Duty Paid), which means all customs clearance, import duties, value added tax, and import related fees are included in the purchase price. You pay one number at checkout and the M79S arrives at your facility without additional payments to customs agents or freight forwarders. This matters for international buyers because SHA-256 mining hardware often faces high import tariffs in specific jurisdictions, and handling customs yourself can add days or weeks to delivery timelines. DDP shipping removes that friction entirely.

Yes. MillionMiner offers professional hosting at partner data centers with existing hydro cooling loops, three phase power infrastructure, and competitive industrial electricity rates. Hosting includes rack space, cooling, power, network connectivity, and remote management through a dashboard that shows hashrate, temperature, and accepted shares in real time. Billing is transparent with monthly statements covering electricity cost and hosting fees. For operators who want petahash class Bitcoin mining without building their own hydro infrastructure, hosting is the fastest path from purchase to production.
